Sportfishing on the World Famous "Swordfish"
Quepos & Playa de Coco, Costa Rica
The Swordfish Sportfishing - Most Costa Rican World Records

When fishing pros from around the world choose the Swordfish for their Costa Rican bluewater adventures, there is a reason. The Swordfish has taken more world records than any other sportfisher in the country!!

This 31' Palm Beach custom gamefisherman is armed with the latest electronic and safety equipment and it's stockpile of ammo includes Penn International, Shimano, and Tibor Fly tackle.

The Swordfish is probably the most regonized sportfishing boat in Costa Rica. It has been recently featured in Saltwater Sportsman magazine and it's adventures have been viewed by millions on ESPN, Fox Network, and the Outdoor Channel.

Your Captain:
Captain Tom "Tucker" Colquhoun hails from Ocean City, Maryland but nows calls Quepos his home. He is a seasoned veteran of the entire Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and adept in light tackle, bait and switch, as well as fly fishing. In addition to his years of fishing experince his tour in the United States Coastguard has impressed upon him the importance of safety as well as maintaining all equipment in top condition. Captain Tom is big supporter of the Billfish Foundation's tag and release program and has tagged hundreds of fish with both novice as well as professional anglers. His reputation for finding fish as well as making sure his clients enjoy their day has made him one of the most popular skippers in Costa Rica.

Quepos - The port of Quepos is on the west coast in the center of the country. Right next to Quepos is the most popular National Park in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio. This park is famous for it's beautiful beaches and abundance of wildlife.

Quepos holds the largest sportfishing fleet in the country and hosts the annual Billy Pate Invitational Fly Fishing Tournament as well as the Club Amuter de Pesca International Tournament. The seas are almost always calm. To have 10 shots at a billfish in a days fishing is common, 20 not unheard of and manys days have been recorded when more than 30 fished were raised in a day.

The fishing grounds off Quepos are famous for the numbers of sailfish, but there is also a good chance to hook into a big marlin. These cobalt waters hold big dolphin fish, known as dorado here as well as several species of tuna and wahoo. The inshore fishing offers an opportunity to tangle with roosterfish, cubera snapper and broomtail grouper. The current world record snook at 57 pounds 12 ounces was taken at the mouth of the Rio Naranjo by a boat fishing out of Quepos.
